Carbon dioxide is primarily suitable for fighting fire classes B and C. Due to its physical properties, carbon dioxide is the only extinguishing gas that is also used in fire extinguishers and fire extinguishing devices. In stationary fire extinguishing systems, carbon dioxide is stored in a liquefied state in high-pressure steel cylinders or cooled to −20 C in large low-pressure containers. By storing it as a liquid, significantly larger volumes of extinguishing agent can be stored efficiently.
